Today I received the very sad and shocking news from Lauren that Guy Jr. passed away on May 27 after a year-long illness. I don't have any other details at this time apart from the below obituary.
Scott Allen Dean, of Charleston, joined his Lord and Savior May 27, 2018. Born March 24, 1962, in Rhode Island, he graduated Herbert Hoover High School in West Virginia, then Marshall University on an academic scholarship.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Bill Dean, and brother, Jay. He is survived by brother Kirk Dean, nephew Aaron Coombs (Signe) and grand-niece, Adley Coombs.
Allen was a great friend who believed that you only needed a few true friends in life. He liked to quote Val Kilmer in Tombstone on this subject and did so frequently. Like most of his friends, he believed in himself, affording him an authentic entrepreneurial spirit that followed him his entire life. He loved to reminisce about his college days, life adventures, and the friends he made that stood by each other through thick and thin. He had an incredible knack for staying his own path and not letting anyone deter him. His passion for music, racing, politics, quick and crazy sense of humor, and sincere intellect will be deeply missed.
Allen was a beautiful soul wrapped in an uncompromising package. He told it how it was and pulled no punches, which made him a polarizing personality. People got to choose whether to love or hate him, but there was no forgetting him either way. You walked away happy or hurt, impressed or repulsed, but never indifferent.
